Within the framework of the GdR CNRS Traitement automatique des langues (GdR TAL), IRISA is organizing a scientific day on the theme of "access to information" on October 19, 2022 in Rennes. The day will be organized around several invited oral presentations and poster presentations and demos (see call below).

NLP for accessing information

The digitization of society has supposedly facilitated access to information, whether for the general public (encyclopedic knowledge, news...) or in specialized domains (e.g. scientific literature).
However, faced with the avalanche of documents, websites, sources, etc., many practical questions emerge, which are scientific challenges for the fields of information retrieval, language and speech processing:

  • How do we find the documents or passages to meet a specific information need?
  • How to extract specific information from a set of documents?
  • How to facilitate the interaction between a user and a collection of documents, navigate within it, develop visualization interfaces, make summaries?
  • How to efficiently exploit multimodality, process multimedia documents?
  • How to ensure the reliability of sources and extracted information, how to characterize their biases?
  • ...

Invited Talks

We will have four invited talks:

- Géraldine Damnati, Orange Labs

- Patrick Paroubek, CNRS, LISN : Du traitement automatique du langage naturel et de l'accès aux données expérimentales

- Anastasia Bezerianos, U. Paris Saclay, LISN : Visual Text Analytics in Data Journalism

- Cyril Labbé, U. Grenoble, LIG : Flagging suspect scientific publications for post-publication reassessments

Call for poster or demo

For this event, we invite researchers working on these themes in an academic or industrial setting to present (demo or poster) their work, even if already published, to exchange with colleagues in the field. For this, it is sufficient to submit an abstract of one page maximum, and/or the poster if it is already existing, and/or the article describing the work if already published, in French or in English, on this very website.

Submission of abstracts/posters/articles: on a rolling basis and no later than September 30, 2022

Notification to authors: 1 week after receipt of the proposal
